07/14 Pennsic Pilgrimage Update: Shire Isenfir!

Huzzah! I have made it the 39.1 miles to the Shire of Isenfir! The next stop on my way to Pennsic is 86.4 miles away: Shire of Sylvan Glen, in the Kingdom Aethelmearc!

As of today I have 253.3 miles left until I reach Pennsic; this means I’ve traveled 245.7 miles! I halfway there! (Too bad there’s only two weeks left to get there at 17.5 miles per day… Should have been using Bonus Miles.) Even though I won’t make my goal I’ve walked, run, stairclimbed, and biked almost 250 miles for this goal! I am pretty proud of myself. I see how the almost two months of not tracking my pedometer really hurt the cause. It’s hard to recover when you fall behind!

The distance I DID complete makes this a Non-Failure. I didn’t make it in time, but my husband says my legs look better than when we met! I call that a Win!

27th Birthday (and variousities of moving).

Filed under: life, Mil — WeyrCat @ 19:39

So yesterday I turned 27. Felt the same as my last day being 26, only more sore.

We spent the last few days packing up our little two-bedroom military housing unit into a UHaul, and scrubbing the place til it was cleaner than when we got it! In the meanwhile I was still going to class, and he was still having to report to duty and run all over post trying to get various clearing stamps, signatures, etc. We got the house finished on the 22nd. (Such a small sentence for the undertaking the 22nd was!) We were scrubbing things til the lady walked up to the house and asked if we were ready to clear! We ended up only paying for 2 tears in the carpet (Cat), 3 busted blinds (also Cat). She signed off at 1615… but didn’t stamp it. The stamp has to be done at Housing in Soldier Support, and they close at 1630. We screamed over there (it’s about 5-10 minutes away depending on traffic. Thankfully all the traffic was headed in our direction, offpost.) He was able to get the thing stamped, after zig-zagging floors and sides of the building like Mario in the original Donkey Kong. We napped after that; a friend is letting me stay with her through Finals, since I’m officially homeless. :) We woke long enough to have an oven-pizza and watch “Men who Stare at Goats.” Shane thought it was “okay” with some funny parts. (It was originally called Dog-Lab… *lick lick lick*) I thought it was decently funny, but I could see why my mom thought it was hilarious.

The next morning was my birthday.. and it was so hard to get out of bed the old-lady jokes hit immediately. More clearing, more errands. He took me to the “Greek Place” for lunch (for my birthday.) I’m in love with the Spatnikova platter, and will miss it so much! (Feta Spinach wrapped in Phylo. The Pita Chips are to die for.) More errands. He then took me to DQ (omg yes!) I had them make me a “Raspberry, chocolate, cheesequake blizzard.” Basically a rasp cheesequake with chocolate chips in it. He blended it so well there was cheesequake in every bite. Omg…. (Shane says he refuses to try any blizzards I get any more, because he always likes them better than the one he got!) We sat around getting fat on those, and then screamed back to the house for a quick change and to head two hours to Greensboro to see Goo Goo Dolls! I’ve adored them since I was 16 and have never seen them. I bought the tickets a month or two ago, when we weren’t sure of dates etc. I thought we wouldn’t get to go, and it was only 2 days before when we discovered we could. It was fantastic.

We had ourselves an adventure once the concert ended. We parked in overflow, as did another couple. There’s no fee, but a warning here and there that you need a parking pass and could get towed. We parked there last week for Nickelback and everything was fine. This time, it was not fine. The gates were locked. O_O I of course did the most logical thing: I started to quietly panic. “Find a hotel?” “Find an all night hardware store and some bolt cutters?” “Ram the gate!” (no really, he wanted to ram the chainlink fence, locked by a wound steel cord, with my plastic Elantra.) The other couple scooted under the fence to go look for another entrance, and we walked back towards the building thinking of finding help. We watched them drive around, almost hoping they had been drinking and planned on ramming the gate themselves. They didn’t. They DID find a closed gate that hadn’t been locked. We were already back in the lot, thinking of sleeping in the car and hauling ass in the morning when they opened it again. When we saw them actually pull out we ran. We jumped in the car and damn near peeled out to get out the gate.

He slept as I drove us home, but not before stopping to get fat on some Taco Bell (I’ve discovered the joy that is Crunchwrap.) Two hours later we were home, jumping into bed, with dreams of just 5 hours of sleep.

So.. Shane’s already headed for FL. Left today and will probably stop over with his brother for the night, then continue in the morn. He took the Rook with him, and I’ve got the Temper. We thought it was going to be almost 3 weeks before I got down there, but it’s 17 days til my last final. 17 days til I can go ‘home’, where-ever that ends up being :)

Unemployed: OVERstimulated

Filed under: edumacation, life — WeyrCat @ 14:57

Packing, dodging pets, STILL doing homework, finding those last bits to turn in to the Army for clearing… I THOUGHT I’D BE /LESS/ CRAZY NOW THAT I’M UNEMPLOYED! AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!

In better news: FAU is taking the Maths and Chem. After this semester I’ll have completed ALL my Nursing Pre-reqs but the sociology. Wonder if I can CLEP or slap that in as my online Summer course :D /Registration starts Apr12. WEEEEE GO OWLS! (And no.. I didn’t pick it cause it’s Owls. I picked it because it has a BSN, ROTC, a Math program (Shane), and is 3 hours from his Mom’s :P )

Grrrrr

Filed under: edumacation, life — WeyrCat @ 16:39

The washer is either not washing or not draining, depending on its mood. The dryer takes two cycles to dry even a load of socks. I can’t get my coupon sites to work and I need to go grocery shopping today. The dishes didn’t get done because “there weren’t that many” so now I get to do them to try to make room in AT LEAST one side of the sink or on the counter so I can cook. The dog won’t leave me alone. Aaaaand I have a Math hw due tonight I haven’t started, on a chapter I haven’t read, and a double lab exam on Wednesday I have barely grazed. I’m frustrated, agitated, and so very tired of it all.

My NLN Results. -97/95 percentiles.

Filed under: edumacation, Medical — WeyrCat @ 11:32

Me (6:20): National League for Nurses results are in "composite percentile score (Range 0-200, Avg 100, standard deviation of 20, most score between 50-150.) 47/60 Verbal. 29/40 Math. 47/60 Sci.

Me (6:21): My results are: in 97th percentile of Diploma programs, 95 percentile Associates Degree progs, 95 of "all three RN programs." The 95 "all programs" comes from all basic RN programs requiring this test in 49 states. 95th Percentile, out of 49 states O.O

Me (6:28): I knew I was going to bomb the math, I guess everyone else does too :P

Now, too bad I went and got accepted to ECU (first University acception btw) and now don't really have the option to go there. Ah well. Pirates, you're losing a 95th Percentile Applicant ;) Here's hoping the Florida guys like that info (though they don't use the NLN, whooole different test.) Oi.

32.

While the answer to the meaning of life is 42, 32 is the number of spam posts I just removed from my Blogger. That makes 33 total this week. I’d already changed the password, so the only way to post was through the mailing address, which I’ve changed and beefed up. So, go die in a fire.

I mean really. Do you REALLY believe that anyone who actually comes to my little blog is goin to click on your garbage? “Oh, she’s really pushin that fake rolex, Adobe 9, and drug to bang your mistress better. I just GOTTA click it!” You waste my time, your bandwidth, and I hate you for it. You suck, you have to wear a fake rolex cause you spent all your money of hacked copies of Mac isoftware and horse piss to increase the length and width of your teeny weeny epeeny. Loser.

Arizona lawmakers look to restrict spending by welfare recipients – Phoenix Business Journal:

Arizona lawmakers look to restrict spending by welfare recipients – Phoenix Business Journal:

Hubby and I talked about a Law I would make on Planet Janna the other day… one Hubby said would never pass because it was too fascist, too controlling by a government. This… is that law. I seriously ranted about it last week!! And here it is!!

A. A person shall not receive assistance or cash assistance under this Title if the person is found:
1. In possession of, consuming or purchasing alcoholic beverages, tobacco products or illegal drugs.
2. With a cellular phone if the cellular phone is not the only phone in the person’s home.
3. With a cellular phone contract that includes more than basic phone service.
4. Purchasing an automobile that is worth more than five thousand dollars.
5. Purchasing a television that is worth more than three hundred dollars.
6. With a cable television contract that provides more than basic cable television service.

Thirteen Republican legislators signed on to the bill, arguing that residents shouldn’t be spending on certain items while on the dole. Democrats say the bill is an overreach of government, dictating behavior to those in need.

Janna says: “Dictating behavior to those in need”?? If you have money to buy beer and cigarettes, you have money to buy milk and bread; you’re just doing it wrong. Why should I support YOUR spawn, so you can be irresponsible. You want my government food stamps, you play along. Savvy?

On another note, seems my Blogger was hacked today by. My latest entry was a HUGE list of software with prices and links back to their site. Asshats.

Licenses to Breed…

In Fayetteville NC the Child Seatbelt / Safety Seat law states that under 5 years old or 50 lbs your child must be restrained by a child safety seat and seat belt.
On Fort Bragg NC the law is 8 years old and 80 pounds (older children may use a Booster Seat instead of a 'Child Safety Seat'.
SO… a carfull of young women come in, and the driver hands me 2 NC ID cards, a Spouse card, and tells me that all she has is her birth certificate because her military ID is on post. Firstly I chide her for driving without a driver's license on her person, which (though it can be looked up by a law enforcement official) is technically illegal. I have her swap with the Spouse card, and turn them around so they can drop her off on the Blvd, and return to enter and retrieve the Mil ID card from post.
Only, when they rolled up the second time, I now saw a small boy in the back seat. I waved to him and asked his age. Three. Well, this tiny three year old boy I did not see before has no carseat. In fact, I didn't see him the first time because he was sitting between the No ID and an NC ID in the backseat!! I tell them there's no way they're going anywhere like that, and pull them to the side so Spouse Card can walk to her car (which was abandoned the other night because she was drunk), retrieve her carseat, and presumeably come back to get the car, child, and then the Mil ID. Sgt instructs me to run the tag on my way over, no biggie. Cept when I called it in I was interupted by a 14yo boy having a seizure (elsewhere) and had to wait for the channel to clear. When their tag FINALLY got cleared, a patrol just happened to wander up and get curious anyway.
Spouse Card wants to know why she can't just turn around and drop the 3-yo off with the chick (oh using this term so loosely you have no idea) down by the Blvd. Um… because that would require DRIVING with the 3-yo in no carseat.. again? Ok.. so MPs get curious, then furious. Spouse card's getting a ticket for no safety seat, and they contemplate giving No ID one too as she was the original driver. All is said and done, Spouse-Card Mom got to walk the 3-yo down to Bragg Blvd and drop him with her girlfriend aaaaand then walk to get the carseat and her car; one of the other women apparently had an NC DL so she could drive the other car away. Ah… justice is served. Cept that three-year old still has a drunk moron for a mother.

Um…
A. Maybe you shouldn't be getting drunk with the lesbian you're cheatin on your hubby with, when you have a three-year-old boy.
B. WHERE was the three-year-old boy at the time??
C. WHY didn't someone grab the carseat when they grabbed your drunk self and the boy?
D. Why don't we require IQ tests, background checks, and licenses to breed?

Nicotine Dream, WSI,

Filed under: politics, work — WeyrCat @ 05:05

I woke up this morning to a bad dream: I dreamt I walked out onto my back patio and someone stood there smoking. Behind them, a very young baby in a large stroller (the kind with a tray) was parked. I could smell the smoke from where I was, though the wind was not blowing at me, and I knew that meant the baby was breathing it too. "How can you do that right now when the baby is right there breathing it?" They shrugged, puffed, and replied "Someone's gotta watch her." I woke up.
It always bothers me, some times I can ignore it more than others, but it always does. I dream far too often about it. I was really sensitive to the smell of it today, I don't know if it was the dream, or the fact that running so far this morning tore my throat up and made it sensitive in general. But I kept reliving the horror in the dream. Please Gods, make nicotine products illegal. :(

There are some things in this world that bleach in the eyes just can't cure. Two women in a beat up car, each about 250 a piece. Their sequined, strappy, plus size dresses were so short I thanked God they were wearing panties. Gigantic hogs (too large to be hams) of thighs jiggled as they stalked around the car, hunched over, trying to have balance on 5" strappy stripper heels…. (you know, the kind with kinda thin, kinda thick heels and 6 studded straps that wrap the foot and up the ankle?) The white girl wore the sequins, multicolored spandex, and gold heels. The hispanic?black? chick wore the supertight black dress and SAME heels (only black…). Dear god… this is what you offer soldiers to trick them into sleeping with you and somehow trapping them? It must work.. because the filthy car was full of TODDLER SHOES, KID TOYS, a STROLLER in the trunk, omg. At least one of those women bred. Mated, and bred, and is now on the hunt again.

The car behind them was a soldier, and when he pulled up he had no words… he was speechless. I told him… "There isn't enough bleach in the world for my eyes right now." He simply replied "..Agreed."

<hr>

I neglected to put it in the 5k blog I did earlier, but I hit Kappellenberg in my Mini-Goals today, and am now roughly 27 miles from Windmaster's Hill Proper, and about 450 miles from Pennsic. :) HOORAY!

Today is tiring. My knees hurt and need iced. Twelve hours suck the life out of you. I've got almost no studying done (two math problems and the heart's arteries memorized.) When I go home I will probably forget to ice my knees, forget to brush my teeth, pass out in bed, wake up, go to work, and try to find someone to take the extra shift the LT scheduled me as its hard to be in class and at work at the same time. Class is more important.

So.. while my brain still works… good night.
